| IDAY’s
VISION
A world where all barriers to education are eliminated and
where all African youths have access to quality basic education.
IDAY’s MISSION
To promote constructive policies and practices that will
provide all youths of Africa access to a quality basic education
by 2015. By basic education, IDAY understands preschool initiation,
a full cycle of formal primary education and literacy training
for youngsters aged between 14 and 25 in accordance with the
six objectives of the Dakar framework.
OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES :
Networking – Empowerment – Advocacy
IDAY is an international network of organisations of the
African and European civil societies supporting education
in Africa. It seeks to empower these organisations to enhance
their capacity to carry citizens’ control of government
expenditures on education and engage in a constructive dialogue
with the public authorities to get them to respect basic education
rights. In particular, IDAY organises with all its members
the International Day of the African Childhood – June
16 – to promote together the objective of basic education
for all.
